Craig N. Landes
Craig N. Landes, CPA is northwest native
and a 1986 graduate of the University of Washington. After
several years with firms in Aberdeen and Bellevue he landed
in Olympia in 1992. He gained a wide variety of experiences
while helping his local firm of 12 grow to 26 and eventually
merge into a national CPA firm. In 2003 he launched Landes
Mertz, enabling him to refocus his practice and resume a
more hands-on approach. Craig’s core services now are
in income and estate tax planning for small business owners
and investors. This includes many people providing services,
from physicians to attorneys to engineers and more. In serving
these clients, he has developed expertise in advising start-up
businesses, QuickBooks accounting support, benchmarking and
other business analysis services, retirement planning, and
performing medical practice revenue evaluations.
Craig has been active in many professional and community organizations.
He helped launch the Hands On Children’s Museum, has
served on WSCPA committees, and was treasurer for the Olympia
Thurston Chamber of Commerce and Westwood Baptist Church. Currently
he is on the board of the Olympia-Lacey-Tumwater Visitor & Convention
Bureau, and is president of the South Puget Sound Estate Planning
Council. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and
the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.

John M. Mertz
John M. Mertz, CPA is a 1970 graduate of the University of Washington. John’s practice emphasis is in management consulting, and tax, estate and retirement planning for both businesses and business owners.
John divides his time between his office in Aberdeen with Preszler Larner Mertz & Company, and our office here.
He has been involved in many professional organizations and community activities, including serving as a board member and officer of various organizations including the Grays Harbor Economic Development Council, the Grays Harbor Chamber, United Way, Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Aberdeen Lions Club, The Bank of the Pacific, Aberdeen Elks Club and Grays Harbor Country Club.
He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Nancy Hansen
Nancy L. Hansen, CPA, joined Landes Mertz & Co.
in November 2006 as a Tax Manager for the firm. Nancy brings
over 25 years of accounting experience to Landes Mertz, ranging
from experience in a national public accounting firm to recent
experience in a local accounting firm. She also managed her
own CPA firm in Tacoma prior to returning to her hometown
of Olympia. Nancy specializes in estate and trust accounting
and planning, along with individual and small business tax
expertise. She is a member of the Washington Society of Certified
Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants, Washington State University Planned Giving Advisory
Board and the South Puget Sound Estate Planning Council.
She is the past President of Pierce County Cougar Club and
also served as Treasurer of the Board of Directors for Seattle
Christian School.
Nancy is a graduate of Washington State University. She
completed post-graduate courses at Pacific Lutheran University.
Nancy lives in Olympia with her husband, two children and
two golden retrievers. She is an avid sports fan, enjoying
Cougar athletics, along with St. Martin’s Women’s
Basketball, where her daughter is a team member and her son’s
basketball and baseball teams.

Tawni Ricchio
Tawni Ricchio joined Landes Mertz & Co.
in February of 2005. Tawni provides bookkeeping and accounting
services for small business clients, including the preparation
of payroll and business tax returns. She offers computer
support for QuickBooks, assists with income tax preparation
and handles the administrative operations for Landes Mertz & Co.
Tawni has more than 28 years of accounting experience in
a variety of industries, including aircraft parts distribution,
plastics manufacturing, auto dealership, restaurant and retail
sales. She has also done work for non-profits and political
campaigns.
Tawni is an active member of the Griffin School PTO and served
terms as both President and Treasurer. She currently provides
volunteer bookkeeping services for St. Christopher’s
Church, where she taught Sunday school for three years. She
has been the Treasurer for the Yes for Griffin Kids Bond
and Levy Committee since 2001. Tawni is an avid collector
of antique glassware and enjoys wandering through estate
sales and flea markets. She lives in the Steamboat Island
area with her husband and two children.
